Ana Mar\u00eda Belique es cofundadora y l\u00edder de Reconocido, un movimiento que moviliza y empodera a los dominicano\/as de ascendencia haitiana en la lucha por la igualdad y los derechos de la nacionalidad y la no discriminaci\u00f3n racial. Estudi\u00f3 Sociolog\u00eda en la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Santo Domingo y actualmente realiza una Maestr\u00eda en Estudios Latinoamericanos y Caribe\u00f1os en CLACS-NYU. Fue estudiante visitante en la Universidad de Columbia en la cohorte 2022\u20132023 del Human Rights Advocate Program.

Su activismo se centra en la lucha por la restituci\u00f3n del derecho a la nacionalidad de los dominicanos de ascendencia haitiana afectados por la sentencia 168-13 del Tribunal Constitucional Dominicano, as\u00ed como promover el empoderamiento de la poblaci\u00f3n dominicana de ascendencia haitiana residente en bateyes dominicanos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coordin\u00f3 la publicaci\u00f3n de los libros, Nos Cambi\u00f3 La Vida<\/em> y Somos Qui\u00e9n Somos<\/em>, que documentan las historias de vidas de dominicanos de ascendencia haitiana afectados por la desnacionalizaci\u00f3n y el racismo en la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana. Es autora del libro infantil: La mu\u00f1eca de Dieula<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ana Mar\u00eda Belique is co-founder and leader of Reconocido, a movement which mobilizes and empowers Dominicans of Haitian descent and campaigns for equality and citizenship rights. She is a sociologist and is currently pursuing her master\u2019s degree in Latin American and Caribbean studies at NYU. She was a visiting student at Columbia University in the 2022\u20132023 cohort of the Human Rights Advocate Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her activism centers around the fight to restore the right to nationality for Dominicans of Haitian descent impacted by the Dominican Constitutional Court\u2019s 168-13 ruling, as well as promoting the empowerment of the population of Dominicans of Haitian descent residing in bateyes in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She coordinated the publication of two books, Nos Cambi\u00f3 la Vida <\/em>(They Changed our Life<\/em>) and Somos qui\u00e9n Somos<\/em> (We Are Who We Are<\/em>), which document the histories of Reconocido members. She also wrote the children’s book La mu\u00f1eca de Dieula <\/em>(Dieula\u2019s Doll<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
