Stefania Milan works at the intersection of political participation, digital technology, and societal governance. She is Professor of Critical Data Studies in the Department of Media Studies, with affiliations to the Florence School of Transnational Governance (European University Institute) and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society (Harvard University). She leads the European Research Council-funded project DATAGOV – Governance by Data Infrastructure in the Post-Pandemic Democracy, and contributes to WHAT-IF, which develops a digital twin of the political information ecosystem to assess the effects of policy and regulatory interventions on misinformation. She enjoys experimenting with participatory and computational methods. Her research has once been described as “undisciplined”—a label she embraces.
