Sami Schalk is an Assistant Professor of Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on representations of race, disability, and gender in contemporary American literature and culture. Sami's work has appeared in Journal of Modern Literature, Disability Studies Quarterly, Journal of Popular Culture, and elsewhere. Her first book, Bodyminds Reimagined: (Dis)ability, Race and Gender in Black Women's Speculative Fiction, is forthcoming from Duke University Press in 2018.
